Data Repository

At the Journal of Human, Earth, and Future, we strongly encourage transparency and reproducibility in research. As the journal does not host datasets directly, authors are required to deposit their data in a suitable publicly accessible data repository prior to publication.

Key Guidelines:

  • Data Availability: Authors must ensure that the underlying data supporting the results of the manuscript are openly available and properly cited.
  • Repository Selection: Authors should choose a reliable repository that fits the nature of their data. This may include:
    • Subject-specific repositories (e.g., PANGAEA for geosciences, Dryad for ecological data)
    • Institutional repositories
    • Generalist repositories (e.g., Zenodo, Figshare, OSF)
  • Data Citation: A citation to the dataset (including DOI or permanent identifier) must be included in the manuscript—preferably in the Data Availability Statement or References section.
  • Data Licensing: Authors should license their data in a way that permits unrestricted reuse, preferably under a Creative Commons license (e.g., CC BY 4.0).

Data Availability Statement:

All submissions must include a "Data Availability Statement" outlining where and how the dataset can be accessed, or if data cannot be shared, a justification must be provided.

Exceptions:

In rare cases where data cannot be made publicly available due to ethical, legal, or commercial constraints, authors should clearly state the reasons and provide access details upon reasonable request where possible.
